UQ's close relationship with the UK is strong bonds with government and industry, close collaboration on strategic research projects, and significant student mobility. The QUEX Institute of Global Sustainability and Wellbeing brings together researchers from UQ and the University of Exeter to address major global challenges. Other key areas of collaborative research include infrastructure, medicine and sustainability, with a focus on transforming the future for our communities.

Collaboration in action
- The University of Queensland’s reputation for global student exchange has helped attract 62 Australia Awards – Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships for 2018, the most of any university in Australia.
- An international team of mental health experts, including two University of Queensland researchers, has developed a framework to help children recover from trauma, with the support of The Prince of Wales.
- Eight collaborative research projects – ranging from chemical biotechnology, to health and archeological science – have been successful in the second round of the 2017 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme.
- Ten collaborative research projects – ranging from bioengineering to the well being of refugees – have been successful in the first round of the 2017 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme.
- The University of Queensland and the University of Exeter have reinforced their strong relationship by cementing a new partnership designed to bolster their joint global research impact.
- The University of Queensland’s world-leading research is well positioned to benefit from a landmark deal with IP Group plc which will see A$200 million available for investment in technology from top universities in Australia and New Zealand.
