Join us for a fireside chat with Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith JP. An attorney at law by profession, Senator Johnson Smith is Jamaica’s first female Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. Appointed in 2016, she works with a range of international development partners to support Jamaica in attaining its sustainable development goals, to strengthen peace and security throughout the region, and to promote a strong and fair multilateral trading system.

Senator Johnson Smith has strengthened relations with non-traditional and traditional bilateral partners, overseen the development of Jamaica’s National Foreign Trade Policy and Action Plan 2017 to 2027, and spearheaded the Foreign and Trade Ministry's contribution to Jamaica’s Economic Diplomacy Program, jointly executed with Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO). The Minister was also instrumental in the development of Jamaica's National Diaspora Policy (2023).
