Global industry collaboration

Through an extensive network, our researchers connect with various industry partners in Australia and around the world. These highly successful collaborations demonstrate that innovation is best achieved through teamwork, and that industry partnerships can drive excellent research that creates change.

Boeing

In an Asia-Pacific first, Boeing Research and Technology Australia will establish a presence at the UQ St Lucia campus. It involves about 30 Boeing staff working at UQ’s campus, and collaborating with UQ researchers and students.

Example Global Industry Partners

UQ partnered with the Chinese Baosteel Group Corporation and other Australian institutions to establish the Baosteel-Australia Joint research and Development Centre, headquartered at UQ's St Lucia campus.
The American multinational corporation Dow Chemical Company, and UQ partnered to establish the Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation – the first of its kind outside North America.
UQ has a long education, research and development relationship with multinational corporation Rio Tinto, which includes the Rio Tinto Centre for Advanced Mineral Sorting within the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre.
HBIS, a Chinese company listed in the Fortune Global 500, will invest A$5.25 million over the next five years in the HBIS-UQ Innovation Centre for Sustainable Steel (ICSS), based in Brisbane, Australia.
