Global Strategy Review

The Global Strategy and Partnership team within GE&E will shortly be commencing a review of our current priority country strategies, with an aim of collating information about UQ’s achievements over the last 4 years, identifying gaps and considering opportunities in our engagement with priority countries.

High level strategies were developed for UQ’s priority countries, building on the focus areas outlined in UQ’s Strategic Plan (2018-2021) and UQ’s Global Strategy. These country strategies, combined with UQ’s Global Strategy aim to enhance the University’s Global Impact.

The strategies outline UQ’s aspirations with each priority country across teaching, research and engagement, including development of strategic partnerships in government, industry and alumni. Each strategy also identifies key themes, funding mechanisms and alignment with bilateral government priorities, to guide UQ’s engagement.

The country strategies have been implemented from 2018-2021 and this timeframe, combined with the impact of Covid-19 and the opportunity to strategically re-position UQ globally, makes this an ideal time for us to review these country strategies. The reviews will help establish the groundwork to move us into the next phase of the Global Strategy and be informed by UQ’s next strategic plan.
There are a number of Country strategies we will be reviewing in three phases over the next 6 months:

Phase one (13 July - 13 August)

Germany

Vietnam

Indonesia

Phase two (16 August - 17 September)

  • Singapore

  • UK

  • Brazil

  • Chile

  • India

Phase three (20 September - 15 October)

  • USA

  • Canada

  • China

Seeking your assistance

We need your insights and ideas to review UQ’s engagement with these priority countries including reviewing:

  • what has and hasn’t worked (successes and challenges)
  • opportunities for improvement
  • recommendations for the next phase of engaging in priority countries within the new global context of ‘Covid-19 normal’.

To help us do this, we ask that you take 5 minutes out of your day to complete the online survey for priority countries with which you have worked, or had significant engagement with.

This is the beginning of the conversation to guide UQ’s revised direction globally. In addition to this survey, there will be ample opportunities to be involved in shaping UQ's new Global Strategy through a UQ-wide consultation process.
We appreciate your work with us and thank you for taking some time to provide your feedback on UQ’s work globally, and how this contributes to the broader goal of enriching our local, regional and global communities.
