Are you a staff member interested in global development work? Join UQ's Global Development Hub

The UQ Global Development Hub harnesses UQ’s wealth and diverse breadth of expertise to provide opportunities and solve challenges globally. Through the Hub, you can connect with a community of like-minded UQ academics, researchers, development practitioners and students across a range of disciplines, faculties and institutes who are either currently engaged in, or holding an interest in, global development work.

The Hub will be supported by academic theme leads across six key areas, as well as a Global Development Hub coordinator.  The UQ International Development team will also lend support to the Hub as needed with technical leadership, training and capacity building, management and research.

Theme Leads

Global Development Theme Lead roles have been established to propel the implementation of the Global Development Impact Plan. 

We're recruiting Global Development Theme Leads

Working collaboratively across key themes, the Global Development Theme Leads will be passionate about global development and build collaboration across UQ, lead activities that secure funded global development projects and support International Development business development and project activities. In the first instance, these roles will be recruiting for the themes: environment; health; governance and public policy; and innovation and entrepreneurship.

Our themes

As part of UQ's Global Development Impact Plan, we have identified six strategic themes which are relevant to development sector priorities. Explore our strengths in each of the areas listed below. 

Global development offers significant opportunities to demonstrate the real-world application of UQ expertise and capabilities.

Through program delivery, innovation, policy and advisory services, our activities enable UQ to build and sustain engagement in key countries while delivering meaningful benefits to communities around the world. Few other endeavours have the potential to deliver such significant and lasting impacts.

Global Development Student Design Jam

Date: TBC September 2021. 
Location: TBC
Facilitated by the Ventures entrepreneurship team, UQ students passionate about global development will use design thinking techniques to identify how university students can better contribute to global development solutions.

Global Development Lunchbox session

Date: Thursday, 21 October 2021, 12-2pm 
Location: Room 275, Global Change Institute, St Lucia Campus. 
Come along to our lunchbox to learn more about the Global Development at UQ, how to get involved and upcoming project and event opportunities. 

Fostering inclusion and opportunity through global development projects

Date: Tuesday, 2 November, 2-3pm
Location: Building 17, St Lucia Campus. 
As part of Teaching and Learning Week, this session will showcase examples of UQ development teaching activities in the Indo-Pacific and the opportunities and benefits available for the UQ community to participate in future projects.

Global Dialogue Series #2

Date: TBC December 2021
Location: Building 17, St Lucia Campus. 
The second Global Dialogue Series will be held in early December 2021. More information coming soon.

A range of online tools, resources and reports will be available to Hub members to help you identify opportunities for collaboration.

Global Development Impact Plan (2021-2025)

The Impact Plan sets out a whole-of-UQ vision for delivering significant global impact within the development sector through the combined expertise of UQ International Development and the broader Global Engagement & Entrepreneurship (GE&E) Office, schools, faculties, institutes, and central units.
