With the aims of cultivating ties and deepening engagements across the three institutions, a joint symposium focused on functional genomics is scheduled on Thursday 5 November 2020. The Symposium brings together key researchers to share research expertise, explore joint projects and address global challenges.

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) is one of the 23 IITs created to be Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. It is an Institute of Eminence (EoI) declared by the University Grants Commission to support greater collaboration with global partners. UQ and IITD formed a strategic partnership in 2018 to establish the UQ-IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR) focusing on joint PhD training and research outputs to deliver global impact.  
 
All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) New Delhi was established as an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament with the objects to develop patterns of teaching in Undergraduate and Post-graduate Medical Education in all its branches so as to demonstrate a high standard of Medical Education in India. It is renowned for Life Sciences and Medicine in teaching, learning and research. UQ and AIIMS have identified key research areas for future collaboration including Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics, Infectious disease, Antimicrobial resistance, and Diabetes.
