Australia's most outstanding educators recognised: our Pro-Vice-Chancellor on the Hot List 2020

10 Sep 2020

Fifty education professionals have made the cut in the second annual The Educator Higher Education Hot List, for making significant contributions in the higher education space over the past 12 months.

The contributions may range from championing the latest tech innovations, establishing new standards of best practice in Australian education, demonstrating educational leadership, to coming up with outstanding research and research impact.

UQ Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Deborah Terry AO, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Entrepreneurship) Dr Jessica Gallagher named on the 50 Higher Education Hot List 2020.

Dr Gallagher leads a number of key institutional partnership activities, strategic engagement events, business development opportunities, and a wide range of programs at the University of Queensland, in a bid to create change in global communities and to extend the university’s reputation and reach.

Recently, UQ has partnered with a $5.5m Artificial Intelligence (AI) centre, to address the growing shortage of talent in the AI and attract leaders in technology innovation from around the world to the state. The AI centre is an initiative under the state government’s landmark $755m Advance Queensland project. UQ’s support of the initiative means specialised training courses will be offered at the AI Hub for Queensland industry and public sector organisations,  upskilling Queenslanders and helping startups to scale-up to meet global demand for innovative technology.
