The 2021 Latin American Colloquium will look to: Solidarity and Partnerships for Recovery.
Addressing how Australia and Latin America have expanded collaboration and built partnerships amid COVID-19. Disruptions to the way we learn, work, and live are paving the way for new opportunities, partnerships, and surprising innovations.
This is the 14th year that UQ has hosted the Latin American Colloquium. Each year, the University brings Ambassadors, industry, and government heads together to showcase Queensland's engagement with the diverse regions of Latin America.
Panel 1: Reshaping the way we work and learn
In a matter of weeks, COVID-19 changed how students were educated and how workplaces adapted. Join us as we hear from experts in their fields to discuss what the future of education and work will look like.
Panel 2: Stronger business connections and partnerships
Building stronger business connections and partnerships during and post COVID-19. Join us as we discuss the emerging technologies and new ways of doing business that are transforming the way organisations build partnerships.
Keynote speaker

Leaders Dialogue
Erin Watson-lynn is the Co-founder and Chair of the Australia Latam Emerging Leaders Dialogue, established in 2018 to strengthen relations between Australia and Latin America. An academic, consultant, and entrepreneur with over 12 years’ experience in the higher education and international relations sector, Erin travelled to Argentina and Chile for G20 and APEC meetings and identified the opportunity for a next-generation leaders dialogue. After delivering the first in-person dialogue at the Australian Ambassador’s Residence in Buenos Aires in 2019, the Dialogue moved into digital programming and appointed its first Chief Executive Officer in 2020. Since then, the Dialogue has grown to a team across seven countries with over 30 volunteers and contributors. The Dialogue provides a platform for young leaders to publish their commentary on Australia and Latin America, country and city insights, a translation club with cultural exchange (think Shakira lyrics and Mafalda comics!), and high-level interviews with politicians, professors, and entrepreneurs.
Erin recently completed her Doctor of Philosophy at Monash University focused on gender, migration and entrepreneurship in the Indian diaspora, works as an international relations consultant to governments and universities across the Asia Pacific, and for the last four years an Australian delegate to the G20 Women Summit. She is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Griffith Asia Institute and teaches international relations and public policy at the University of Melbourne.
